Tick & Tape privacy
In short: Tick & Tape keeps your files on your computer. It sends nothing anywhere, collects nothing, and has no accounts.
Your files
- PDFs you open are read and marked up inside your browser, on your computer.
- They are never uploaded. Tick & Tape has no server to send them to.
- When you save, the file goes where you choose, on your computer or your network.
What stays in your browser
- Your settings, such as your initials, colors and layout.
- Recovery drafts of unsaved work, if you leave them turned on. They are locked to the PDF they came from, and you can turn them off.
These stay in your browser's own storage on your computer. Nobody else can see them. Removing the extension, or clearing the site's data, deletes them.
What Tick & Tape does not do
- No tracking, analytics, ads or cookies.
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No selling or sharing of any data. There is no data to share.
- The browser extension asks for no permissions and cannot see the web pages you visit.
Links
The About panel has links to this website and to PayPal and Venmo, for anyone who wants to support the project. They open only when you click them, in a new tab, and nothing about your document is sent along.
